BugFest-By-The-Sea in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (July 24-Aug. 1, 2015) is just around the reef!

Now in its fourth year, BugFest is a week-long series of fun events, seminars and contests for scuba divers centered around Florida’s annual two-day lobster mini-season, July 29 and 30. BugFest was featured on ScubaNation TV in April!

Sponsored by Reef Safe sun care products, BugFest is again giving away $15,000 in cash, dive gear and other great prizes. The cost to register for the Great Florida Bug Hunt is just $20, and you can catch spiny lobster anywhere off Broward, Palm Beach or Miami-Dade counties (you can also register and pay online with either a credit card or PayPal account). Unlike the Florida Keys, the daily bag limit north of Monroe County is 12 bugs per day per scuba diver.

Win thousands of dollars by catching big bugs – as in lobsters. It’s timed to coincide with Florida’s two-day lobster mini-season. Also included: bug hunting seminars, a wreck-diving workshop with legendary diver John Chatterton, underwater photo and video contests, a lobster cook-off and much more. If you haven’t yet been to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, this is the perfect time to see this quaint town. Hotels are offering 10 per cent off their already lower summer rates.
